Western Uranium Provides Baza Project Update

Western Uranium Corporation provides a material update regarding Baza Project in Spain. An crushing equipment for quartz goldadministrative error in filing an application for the renewal on one of the Company’s permits for the Baza Project has resulted in the cancellation of that permit.

The area in question covers approximately 1400 hectares of the overall 16000 hectares covered by the various permits held by the Company.

Actions are being arranged to correct the situation. This may require the Company to reapply for the permit in a public bid and it is anticipated that the entire process will take approximately six months to complete.

While there is no certainty of success, the Company anticipates the permit situation will be resolved satisfactorily and work will again resume in the canceled area once the issue is resolved. In the interim, work will be ongoing in the other areas of the Project.

The data from the recently completed airborne geophysical program that covered the entire project area is being processed and incorporated with geological and geochemical data. Results from this will be used in planning future ground programs and assisting in delineating drill targets. Drilling of two core holes has been completed. Until the issue of the canceled permit area is resolved, core from these holes will not be analyzed.

Avion Establishes an Initial 547,000oz Inferred Mineral Resource in Burkina Faso

Avion Gold Corporation is pleased to announce an initial resource estimate for the Vindaloo zone on the Hounde Property in Burkina Faso.

Avion recently finalized its acquisition of the property mining equipment for quarrying limestonefrom Avocet Mining PLC (see Avion news releases dated January 29, 2010, July 5, 2010, and, October 7, 2010). Highlights of the Vindaloo initial resource estimate at a 1.0 g/t Au cut-off grade defined within an optimized pit shell are as follows:

  • 883,000 tonnes Indicated Mineral Resources at 2.23 g/t Au totalling 63,000 Ounces

  • 5,725,000 tonnes Inferred Mineral Resources at 2.97 g/t Au totalling 547,000 Ounces

Gold mineralization in this very large, 1,670 km2 property, displays similar characteristics with SEMAFO's Mana Mine (which hosts estimated mineral reserves and resources totaling 2.35 million ounces of gold and Inferred mineral resources totaling 0.91 million ounces of gold), which is located in the same geological belt, 60 kilometres to the northeast. The property is centered approximately 250 km southwest of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

Avion has intersected gold mineralization along a 500 metre strike length to at depth of approximately 200 metres from surface with drill hole step-outs of 75 to 100 metres horizontally and vertically. This zone is open along strike and to depth and has been defined by approximately 23 drill holes. The mineralization trend, associated with the Vindaloo zones, can be traced through drilling, soil survey data and magnetic surveys for over 2,500 metres along strike.

The Vindaloo zone is hosted near the contact between an intensely sericite- and silica-altered mafic intrusion and similarly-altered, intensely sheared and altered intermediate to mafic volcanoclastics. The mineralization is often quartz stockwork-style, intrusion-hosted and weakly to moderately pyritic. The entire mineralized package strikes north-northeast and dips steeply to the west. Higher gold grade zones have been intersected where the intrusion narrows.

John Begeman, Avion's President and CEO, stated: "The initial resource for the Vindaloo zone is very encouraging especially as the zone is open in all directions and that the overall grade is similar to that at Semafo's Mana mine. Avion's management is excited by what we believe are an abundance of quality drill targets, some of which will be tested in October and November."

Additional drill testing is planned in the fourth quarter of 2010. However, due to work commitments on the Company's other Hounde Property concessions, further drill testing at the Vindaloo zone will be limited, at this time, to 4 to 6 holes to test for strike extensions of the zone.

San Gold updates mineral resource and mineral reserve estimate

San Gold Corporation announced an updated mineral resource and mineral reserve estimate for the Company's 100% owned Rice Lake Project located in Bissett, approximately 235 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Trock sand crusher price in keralahe Rice Lake Project has a permitted, modern gold mill currently processing ore at a capacity of 2,500 tons per day, as well as modern surface infrastructure, including a licensed tailings management facility and is connected to the Manitoba power grid system.

"The sheer scale of the increase in inferred mineral resources announced today for our Rice Lake Project confirms the immense value being realized by our aggressive approach to exploration. In addition to greatly improving the understanding of the region's geologic structure, this drilling continues to prove invaluable for developing and refining our current mine plans.

The knowledge accumulated during the past few years of mining has also helped us construct a mineral reserve profile that is congruent with our operational plans and marks a significant step forward for the Company. We've achieved our stated goal of significantly increasing our inferred mineral resources, which are high-quality resources as they are readily accessible from existing infrastructure. This will allow us to produce mid-term to long-term mine plans over the next year," said San Gold President and CEO, George Pirie.

Historically, resources at the Rice Lake Project were estimated using the polygonal method. More recently, with the use of Amine(R) software, the measured and indicated mineral resource estimate is derived by creating a block model.

The construction of the block model begins by creating 3D wireframes or meshes around mineralization as determined from both underground and surface drilling, underground mapping and sampling, and/or surface mapping and sampling. Once constructed, the drill hole and chip assays enveloped in the meshes are composited by the software and used to interpolate grade blocks. The resource block model was estimated utilizing inverse distance squared methodology on a block size of 3 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet.

The Company continues its aggressive drill program at the Rice Lake Project and remains on track to complete 250,000 metres of surface and underground diamond drilling in 2012. A large portion of the 2012 program will be targeted toward converting mineral resources to mineral reserves. The Company will also continue to extend its overall mineral inventory. The Company remains extremely excited about the potential of the currently known ore bodies as none have yet been tested below 1,500 metres depth, which is approximately half the vertical extent of similar known Archean greenstone deposits.

The talks are the latest in a wave of disputes that have already disrupted operations in the mining and fuel sectors and threaten to curb growth in an already stagnant economy. The mid-year negotiating session known as "strike season" is expected to intensify next week when at least 145,000 municipal workers plan to walk off the job on Monday, disrupting garbage collection and other services in major cities. The strikes have cost goldminers around $190 million in lost output, curtailed the already struggling manufacturing sector and could trim third quarter economic growth by up to 0.6 percent, analysts said. The Implats talks will start at 1400 GMT, said Eddie Majadibodu, the National Union of Mineworkers' chief negotiator at Implats. "Anything is possible at this meeting. Management does not want a strike and it's up to them to decide what...

Richmond says historical iron ore data shows strong potential for expansion at Buena Vista

Riconcrete or cement aggregates supplieschmond Mining has uncovered impressive total iron values over considerable vertical distances, including numerous individual assays of more than 50% iron, during a review of historic drilling data from the Section 5 prospect at the Buena Vista project in Nevada.

The significance of these historical results is that they demonstrate the strong potential of Section 5 to provide additional tonnes and higher grade magnetite mineralisation to feed the proposed Buena Vista magnetite operation. The Section 5 prospect was initially delineated as a relatively intense magnetic anomaly and Southern Pacific Company drilled a number of, mostly vertical, diamond holes. The historic holes over Section 5 demonstrate wide zones of continuous magnetite mineralisation, containing in many cases, individual assays of between more than 30% iron to above 50%. Section 5 is also strategically located less than a kilometre from the proposed location of the Buena Vista magnetite beneficiation processing facility. The historical drilling data that is available over all the other prospect areas is being...

Chile Frees Three of 33 Miners in Longest Rescue

Chilean rescue workers pulled three of 33 miners trapped underground for more than two months in a rescue operation watched by relatives on site and millions of voltas stone crusher in indiapeople around the world on television.

Florencio Avalos emerged from the San Jose copper mine at 11:12 p.m. New York time after being trapped in a tunnel more than 600 meters (1,970 feet) underground, according to a broadcast by state television channel TVN. Mario Sepulveda reached the surface an hour later, followed by Juan Illanes. “I am so overwhelmed with emotion because it’s been so long since we have seen him,” Avalos’ father Alfonso said in comments broadcast by TVN. “I am so content, so happy. Thank God that he emerged so strong.” Avalos embraced his wife and son and Chile’s President Sebastian Pinera before being taken to a mobile hospital as rescuers shouted “Long Live Chile.” Sepulveda joked with rescuers and Pinera, who will oversee the rescue of the remaining men over the next 24 hours to 48 hours at the mine in the Atacama Desert. The four-meter long “Phoenix” capsule painted in the red, white and blue colors of the Chilean flag is acting as an elevator, hoisting the miners to the surface through a 26-inch wide rescue hole. More than 1 billion people watched the rescue live on television networks around the world, TVN reported. Embraces and Confetti Families embraced and threw confetti at the mine site where they have camped for more than two months to await the rescue of the men. They had lit fires to fend off the cold. Police erected barricades to protect the families from hundreds of reporters. “I’m so happy; it’s historic,” said Lily Ramirez, wife of 63-year-old Mario Gomez, the oldest miner. “My husband is still down there. I just hope they all get out okay.” The miners were discovered alive on Aug. 22 after being trapped since Aug. 5, when the mine’s access collapsed. The miners’ only contact with the outside world was through drill holes that were used to discover them and through which they receive food, water and medicine. The survival of the San Jose miners surpasses a 25-day rescue of three coal miners in a flooded mine in Guizhou, China in 2009. “Chileans and the entire world are not going to...

New policy critical in reviving Zimbabwe mining

Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe president Winston Chitando says there is an opportunity for astone crusher for back of tractor world-class mineral development policy that will guide the formulation of legislation, fiscal measures and other government interventions that will help revive the mining industry.

Chitando told delegates attending the Chambers annual general meeting that a new policy could be critical in unlocking value in the sector. The CMZ leader said the policy would outline and clarify government expectations from mining companies and how it proposes to promote a conducive environment for extraction of minerals.

There is a great opportunity to develop a mineral development policy that can be the anchor for the minerals sector development, said Chitando.
He said miners would soon make submissions to the government.

Meanwhile, Mines and Mining Development minister Obert Mpofu has announced that amendments to the Mines and Minerals Act are now at an advanced stage, amid expectations that Cabinet will give a nod next month to the proposed changes.

Mpofu said the amendments will promote investment and sustainable development in the sector, in addition to guaranteeing security of tenure, while ensuring efficient use of land under title.

The Act is also expected to guarantee increased capacity in mineral production, value addition and also enforce the use-it-or-lose it principle.

He said the mining sector will be presented with a more investment-focused legislation based on a win-win principle that also addresses issues of levies and taxes to reflect prudence in the application of mineral rents.

First quarter mineral revenues surged 10,4% to $458,4 million buoyed by an increase in output despite frequent power outages, underfunding and high mining fees.

Kirkland Lake said it would start exploration drilling immediately from both underground and surface on these properties.

Broker Panmure Gordon welcomed the news, saying the move opened up low cost exploration alternatives in this high grade South Mine Complex zone, while reiterating its ‘buy’ recommendation on the stock.

“The economies of scale on offer in the development of such contiguous (and potentially high grade) properties also provide the rationale for the transaction,” said analyst Alison Turner.

“Subject to exploration results we expect this to be a value enhancing deal over the mid term.”

Zijin Mining Nears $223 Million Buy of Norton Gold Fields

China’s Zijin Mining is a step closer to securing a solid footing in the Australian gold market through its proposed takeover of Norton Gold Fields.

The two companies have now signed a “bid implementation deed” on the potential 229 million Australian dollar (US$222.7 million) deal, which follows an unsolicited bid approach by Zijin in April and has won the unanimous support ofiron ore beneficiation equipment Norton’s board.

Zijin Mining Company Secretary Fan Cheung-Man last September said the company was eager to expand its presence overseas and secure more gold reserves. Australia is the world’s second largest producer of gold, behind China.

Exactly what direction Zijin plans to take with Norton is unclear.

“We haven’t had specific discussion around that,” Norton’s managing director Andre Labuschagne said in a telephone press conference. “I just go at this stage what their chairman has been saying to the market, which is that they are looking for a growth vehicle.”

Talks on business strategy will also occur in the coming weeks as the formal bid is tabled. Mr. Labuschagne says Norton is expecting significant benefits from the tie-up, namely through its access to Zijin’s technological laboratories.

The deal is pitched at 25 cents a share with a special dividend of no more than 2 Australian cents. At 0224 GMT, Norton’s shares were up 9.5% at 23 Australian cents a share.

Zijin, China’s largest gold producer, already holds 16.98% of Norton, whose directors have recommended the offer in the absence of a higher bid.

“Zijin has been involved with us [since] September last year and we see there is significant upside and synergies the company can draw from this transaction,” Mr. Labuschagne said.

He said the bid is “in early stages,” with the companies yet to discuss detailed terms, including whether he will remain with the company as managing director.

The takeover is conditional on approval by Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board. Chinese regulatory approval is also required. Under the terms of the deed, it is also a requirement that the spot price of gold doesn’t drop below US$1,400 a troy ounce for a 72-hour period of trading in the coming six months.

Mr. Labuschagne said Zijin now has six weeks to lodge its bidder’s statement, after which the bid will have to remain open for at least a month before the deal proceeds.

Norton produced 152,000 ounces of gold from its open cut and underground operations at Paddington, near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, and recently added two new mining operations, the Homestead underground mine and the Navajo Chief open cut, to supply ore to its processing facility.

Mr. Labuschagne told reporters Friday Norton hadn’t “had any negative feedback at all” regarding the Chinese firm’s offer.

Zijin, which is listed in Shanghai and Hong Kong, has a market capitalization of over US$12 billion and holds extensive interests across a broad range of commodities, including gold, copper, zinc, lead, tungsten and iron ore. It has interesting in Asia, Africa and South America.
