Purest kind of marble is statuary marble, which is white with visible crystalline structure. District Khuzdar district is rich in marble deposits with various varieties & colors. These varieties contain China Verona. Botesina. Humza Green or Amber Green. Plane Verona. King Gold. Marina Pink & Burma Teak. These varieties are abundantly available and also have great value in the local along with inside the international markets.


Total quantity of marble processing unites within the area are 06. i.e. two processing unites at District Khuzdar and four at Xaal.


Marble Production in District Lasbela


There are many Marble deposits in Lasbela district having various types of colors and shades. These varieties include, Botisino (fossiliferous). Onyx, Cream, Champagain. Travera. Khargosh. Burma bamboo color. Micro Botesina. Black & Gold. Chocolate, and Burma Teak Green. Some of the major locations of production consist of Lui. Uthal. Dhoreji. and Hub and so on.


Mining: Diverse equipments are used for extracting M&G at mining sites. Presently very primitive and small equipments are being used for mining like trolley, pickaxe, bars, hammers, spade, tripod chain pulleys, wenches along with other small tools. Additionally, uncontrolled blasting is also getting used for M&G extraction. Some mine owners in Chaghi. Dalbandin & Kukundi locations use modern mining machinery like wire saw (imported from Iran & Italy). Splitters. Bulldozers, Cranes, Loaders, Generators and Compressors and so forth.


Raw Block Cutting: Irregular blocks arrive at marble & granite-processing units in different parts in the country where these irregular blocks are cut into large slabs using gangsaws and HV Cutters. These slabs within the next phase are cut into tiles strips, table and Kitchen tops and so forth. Onyx is cut into regular blocks at the mining site with the aid of modern machinery.


Cutting: The slabs at the plant are cut by small cutters and sizers into demanded sizes of tiles, strips, tabletops and kitchen tops etc. Once cut into the required shape the products are sent for that finishing and polishing process.


Polishing & Finishing: The slabs, tiles, strips and table/kitchen tops are finished and polished based on the industry standards and so are made ready for delivery. Usually manual polishing machines are used. In Dist. Loralai polishing is not done since most in the material is distributed to Punjab and so cut into thick tiles to prevent damage.


Sales & Distribution: The finished M&G items are now ready available on the retail shops or are provided for the building site as needed by the customers. Usually marble & Granite goods are sold in the factory showrooms where all the available varieties are displayed. Those needed for export are packed and shipped accordingly.
